CEREC digital dentistry
CEREC is an advanced digital dentistry system that can be used to capture detailed images of your teeth and support the design and planning of selected dental restorations.
Instead of using conventional impression material, your clinician may use a digital scanner to create a three-dimensional model of your mouth. This provides detailed information about the shape of your teeth, the way they meet when you bite and the area being treated.
CEREC technology may support the planning of treatments such as:

✓ Certain dental veneers
✓ Selected restorative treatments
Once your scan has been completed, the digital information can be used as part of the process of creating your restoration. Your clinician will explain how many appointments are required and what your individual treatment journey will involve.
CEREC will not be appropriate for every restoration or every patient. Before recommending treatment, your dentist will carry out a clinical assessment and discuss whether this technology is suitable for your needs.
iTero digital scanning
The iTero scanner creates an accurate 3D representation of your teeth and gums using a small handheld scanning device.
During the scan, the device is gently moved around your mouth while it captures a series of images. These are combined to create a digital model that you and your clinician can view on screen.
An iTero scan may be helpful when planning:

Our TRIOS scanner also allows us to create a detailed digital model of your mouth without relying solely on conventional dental impressions.

CBCT scanning in Hest Bank

3. Digital scanning or imaging: Where appropriate, we may take a CEREC, iTero or TRIOS scan. A CBCT scan will only be taken when clinically justified. The type of scan required will depend on your treatment and individual circumstances.
4. Reviewing your results: Your clinician will carefully review the information gathered. Where helpful, we can show you the digital images and use them to explain our findings and recommendations.
5. Your personalised treatment plan: If treatment is recommended and you are clinically suitable, you will receive a personalised treatment plan explaining the proposed treatment, expected stages, fees and available alternatives.

Are digital dental scans uncomfortable?
Digital scans are non-invasive and should not be painful. A small handheld scanner is moved gently around your mouth to capture images of your teeth. The process can usually be paused if you need a break.
Will I still need traditional dental impressions?

What is CEREC used for?
