What happens, step by step
Every plan is personal, but most implant journeys at Hest Bank Dental Care follow the same six stages.
Step one
Consultation
Everything begins with a conversation. Pinar or Jonathan will listen to what you want, answer your questions and talk through the options that could suit you.
They will also assess your mouth, gums and bone using x-rays and scans, so your plan is built on a clear picture.
Step two
Pre-treatment, if you need it
Implants need healthy gums and enough jawbone to support them. Some patients see our hygiene team first. Others need a bone graft or sinus lift to create the right foundation.
If you do, this may need several months to heal before the next step.
Step three
Implant placement
Once your mouth is healthy and your bone is ready, your implant is placed. You will be given a local anaesthetic so you are comfortable, and we will tell you in advance what to expect and how long your appointment will take.
With All on 4, a fixed set of teeth can often be fitted on the same day.
Step four
Healing and integration
Now nature does its quiet work. Over 3 to 6 months the titanium implant bonds with the bone around it, creating a strong and stable base for your new crown, bridge or denture.
We check in along the way, so you always feel supported.
Step five
Your new teeth
Your new teeth are made over two appointments. At the first we take scans or impressions, so your crown, bridge or denture can be crafted to blend with your natural smile. At the second it is securely fitted.
Most teeth on implants are fixed and can only be removed by your dentist. Dentures attached to implants can be taken out for cleaning.
Step six
Aftercare
Your journey doesn’t end here, and neither does our care. Like natural teeth, implants need regular check-ups and careful cleaning every day.
With the right aftercare, implants can last for many years.

It’s natural to have questions
How long does the dental implant journey take?
Dental implant treatment typically takes between 3 and 6 months. If you need pre-treatment such as a bone graft, allow extra time for healing first. Your own timescale is set out in your plan.
Will treatment hurt?
Your implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so the area is numb. Some soreness afterwards is normal and usually settles within a few days.
How many appointments will I need?
It varies with your plan. As a guide, expect a consultation, your implant placement, reviews during healing, and two appointments to make and fit your new teeth.
Will I be without teeth while I heal?
Your dentist will talk through what you will wear during healing at your consultation, so you know what to expect before you start.
What happens after my treatment is finished?
