Save water !!

Every time someone leaves the tap on when they brush their teeth they waste more than 4 and a half clean, drinkable gallons of water. Considering that most people brush their teeth twice daily, so 14 times weekly, 60 times monthly. That’s more than 280 gallons for ONE person in a month. The environmental and social impacts of this wastage are colossal.

One in every ten people living in the world doesn’t have access to clean, drinkable water. Meanwhile many people are pouring away more than 8 gallons of it away every. single. day. In addition to the scarcity of safe drinking water, leaving the tap on while you brush also has far reaching consequences on the environment, including destruction of aquatic environments and lack of agricultural productivity. Not to mention the fact that you could save hundreds of pounds on your water bill by simply turning the tap off while you brush.

The environmental consequences of water wastage extend well beyond the water itself. The transportation and storage of all the water we use in the UK requires huge amounts of non-renewable fossil fuels. By reducing the amount of water that we use we can also play a conscious role in the reduction of highly polluting fossil fuels.

Here at Hest Bank Dental Care we’re asking that you join us and play your part in reducing this huge amount of wastage, unless of course you already turn the tap off while you brush! Maybe stick up a little note to remind yourself when you brush to turn the tap off while you do it? Teach your little ones that turning the tap off while you’re brushing is part of the process, then before long we’ll be saving hundreds of gallons of water annually.
