Gum Disease Treatments

Gum disease is the swelling, soreness and infection of the gum and tissues supporting your teeth, caused by plaque build-up. The most common sign of gum disease is bleeding whilst you are cleaning your teeth, but other symptoms include sore gums, unpleasant breath and pus secretions from around the teeth.

Treatment involves a thorough check up of your teeth and gums, including measurements of the gum around each tooth to detect whether gum disease has begun and X-rays if required. For minor cases, a number of sessions with the hygienist will be needed to thoroughly clean all surfaces of the teeth and you may be prescribed a medicated mouthwash. More severe cases may need further cleaning of the roots of your teeth to remove bacteria pockets, which will require local anaesthetic, or a specialist treatment to battle gum disease called Dentomycin.

Gum disease treatment starts from £99.
